Valentine’s Day has always been an interesting holiday for me. Growing up in Europe, it wasn’t something we really celebrated in the way it is here in the U.S. Not being so commercialized it was honestly just another day on the calendar.
But over the years, as I made my home in America, I started to see the beauty in Valentine’s Day. At first, it felt very commercial, but then I realized—at its core, it’s about love. And love, in all its forms, is worth celebrating.
What I’ve come to appreciate most about this holiday is the reminders it brings. It’s so easy to take the people we love for granted in day to day life. Valentine’s Day is a nudge to slow down and acknowledge the people in your life who matter most—whether it’s a partner, the special women in your life, life long besties, your babies, and of course yourself.
Valentine’s Day does not have to be about extravagant gifts, it can be as simple as a handwritten note, a sweet treat, any little thing done with the intention of love. So, while I didn’t grow up with Valentine’s Day as a tradition, I’ve grown to create my own little special traditions. This week I wanted to share some gift ideas whether they be for you, your partner, friends, whoever!
Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? Or is it just another day for you? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
